Treat yourself to a slice of culinary paradise with a chef-inspired dinner or rejuvenate your mind and body with an herbal massage.
Come, enjoy the slower pace and the magic of a warm community where hospitality is a tradition. Welcome to Gahanna!
There’s so much to experience in Gahanna — shopping destinations, historical treasures, natural bounty and family fun getaways, just to name a few. It’s just a bonus that most of Columbus’ major attractions are just a few minutes’ drive away. Use our fun sample itinerary to help plan your trip!
The city’s biggest draw is its proximity to the "Rodeo Drive of the Midwest," a nationally renowned outdoor shopping complex. Anchored by Nordstrom and Macy’s, the upscale Easton Town Center boasts more than 200 specialty stores, restaurants and entertainment options. An entire day could be spent strolling through the mall’s many offerings, including Ohio’s only American Girl® store.
More boutiques await in Olde Gahanna, a charming area with locally owned restaurants and cafés. The Creekside District is another popular destination for shopping, dining and a variety of year-round events. Brick walking paths lead to Creekside Park, where you can stroll along a wooden boardwalk for dramatic views of Big Walnut Creek and cool off in the water by wading or going on a paddleboat ride.
Get an entertaining history lesson at one of Gahanna’s historical treasures. The Gahanna Historical Society Settlement is home to a 1840s log house, the 1860s John Clark House and a National Certified Wildlife Habitat. Call ahead for tour times or download the self-guided Historic Gahanna Walking Tour.
There’s even a 1900s bed and breakfast where you can sleep Victorian-style.
A One Room 1860s Era Schoolhouse is also up for exploration. The community saved the building from demolition and restored it based on an 1899 photo.
History and nature converge at the Gahanna Woods, a 99-plus acre park that includes Gahanna Woods State Nature Preserve, one of Central Ohio’s last remaining forests. Wildflower spotters and bird watchers will love this spot. At Shepherd’s Corner, owned by the Dominican Sisters of Peace, a barn built in 1803 has been transformed into an office and meeting space. A meditation trail and labyrinth are also part of the 160-acre site.
Of course, a trip to Gahanna is not complete without acknowledging its status as the Herb Capital of Ohio. One of the tastiest ways: dining at one of the restaurants on the city’s Herbal Trail. Stop in the Ohio Herb Education Center for classes on gardening, cooking and wellness uses for herbs. Walk amid fragrant herbs at Geroux Herb Gardens, another botanical haven for visitors.
Taste garden-fresh herbs and vegetables at one of Jorgensen Farms’ Sunday Suppers, held every summer. Be sure to make reservations far in advance — it’s a prized meal. Sip on several vintages during a tasting at Wyandotte Winery or go on a free tour to see how the award-winning vino is made.
Consider taking advantage of Gahanna’s close proximity to other major Columbus attractions, such as COSI science center, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, the Columbus Museum of Art, Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, and the Ohio History Center and neighboring Ohio Village.
Gahanna offers an eclectic mix of boutiques, galleries and stores filled with unique and exceptional treasures. Stop in one-of-a-kind shops and locally owned gems, along with exploring the hundreds of speciality retailers at Easton Town Center, Ohio’s only location for American Girl®, Henri Bendel, Burberry and more!
