Gahanna’s Herbal Trail

Any trip to Gahanna, Ohio is a sensory adventure …especially along the Herbal Trail!  Long recognized as the Herb Capital of Ohio, the city celebrates this distinction (and heritage) through a collaborative effort showcasing 45 culinary and shopping venues, herb gardens and trails, eco-learning options and health/wellness retreats—providing plenty of adventure! Peruse the ideas below to inspire your journey. Start in the Creekside area and walk the Herbal Garden Walking Path. Health, Wellness & Treats

  • Visit the Ohio Herb Center(110 Mill St.) and take in a workshop or chat with the herbalists for advice on starting your herb garden, beekeeping, blending your own herbal teas or making the most of your health.
  • Pick up some chocolate mints at Anthony Thomas Chocolates (80 N. Hamilton Rd.)
  • Relax with a therapeutic massage at Thrive Health and Wellness and discover how herbs and herbal scents can help with health, wellness and relaxation. 
  • Savor a Lemon Thyme or Lavender Berry Whoopie Pie at Mrs. Turbo's Cookies!
  • We bet you've never tasted popcorn the flavors offered at Pam's Market Popcorn! Sample Herbal Trail favorites or go with crowd pleasers like Chicago-style, Caramel Corn or Cheese.
  • Sip a bottled Fruit & Herb water, made fresh daily at Fresh Thyme. 

Gardens

  • Meander the walking paths along Creekside Park, past the Sunburst Herbal Garden and down to the Gahanna Historical Settlement. Experience the Goosefoot Garden and National Certified Wildlife Habitat.
  • Explore Friendship Park’s Community Gardens and the famed Story Trail. 
  • Discover Geroux Gardens (206 S. Hamilton Rd.)--named for Bunnie Geroux, the driving force behind Gahanna’s Herb Capital recognition. The gardens offer an acre of themed herb collections including the Culinary Garden, the Biblical Garden and the Medicinal Garden.

Culinary Gems

  • Chart your adventure along our Herbal Cocktail Trail! Sample signature libations with delicious herb infusions at 6 Gahanna restaurants. Pick up a passport at any partner business, get 6 stamps, then trade in your passport for a branded T-shirt at Gahanna Convention & Visitors Bureau (167 Mill St.)
  • Wyandotte Winery (4640 Wyandotte Dr.) creates specialty wines on the premises and is known for their signature wine cake desserts including the Venetian Wine Cake—which incorporates fresh rosemary.
  • Barrel & Boar features herb-inspired cocktails.
  • Arepazo Tapas & Wine draws fans with its spicy (homemade) Cilantro Sauce and Latin American Food. 
  • Local Cantina lures hungry visitors with it's wide variety of house-made tacos, free chips and salsa, craft beers and great patio views. (Insider tip: Visit on Taco Tuesday and enjoy $2 tacos all day!)
  • Lola & Guiseppe’s Trattoria incorporates a variety of Italian herbs (including LOTS of basil) into old world recipes that keep guests returning again and again.

  • Gahanna’s Herb Day (Saturday of Mother's Day Weekend, May) celebrates all-things-herbal with a huge herb sale, classes, vendors, food trucks, cooking demos and more at Creekside Plaza.
